Don’t Forget Your Privacy Policy | Privacy Policy Template

Every website should have a Privacy Policy Page. It's not that you are doing anything sketchy but if you don't have one you can get in a tight space for "Looking Sketchy"

Need Help With Your Marketing?

I know you’re busy, and don’t have time to write blog posts or create content to market your home inspection business . So I created the Inspector Branding Club. A Blog Post Library, Content Calendar, & more content you can put your own twist on, watermark, and post as your own.

This privacy policy template is free but before we get into anything, let me start by giving a disclaimer…

READ FIRST – I AM NOT A LAWYER AND THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE THIS POST TO PUT YOUR PRIVACY POLICY PAGE TOGETHER, C.J. HALLOCK, K.C. BARTLEY, THE COMPANY INSPECTOR PLAYBOOK® OR ANY ONLINE PROPERTY ARE NOT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. WHEN IT COMES TO THE DIFFERENT LEGAL PAGES FOR YOUR WEBSITE OR ANYTHING TO DO WITH LIABILITY, DISCLAIMERS OR ANYTHING WITH YOUR BUSINESS, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP. THIS IS A TEMPLATE PROVIDED BY WORDPRESS AND ADJUSTED FOR “HOME INSPECTORS” BY ME (AGAIN…NOT A LAWYER!) OK… BACK TO IT…

Now that we have that out of the way…

You NEED a privacy policy!

OK, that is all! 🙂 (Again, not professional advice, just my opinion)

Before we get into the privacy policy template, you may want to know what a privacy policy is. I’m not a lawyer and can’t explain it right, so check out the wikipedia definition.

“A privacy policy is a statement or legal document (in privacy law) that discloses some or all of the ways a party gathers, uses, discloses, and manages a customer or client’s data.[1] Personal information can be anything that can be used to identify an individual, not limited to the person’s name, address, date of birth, marital status, contact information, ID issue, and expiry date, financial records, credit information, medical history, where one travels, and intentions to acquire goods and services.[2] In the case of a business, it is often a statement that declares a party’s policy on how it collects, stores, and releases personal information it collects. It informs the client what specific information is collected, and whether it is kept confidential, shared with partners, or sold to other firms or enterprises.[3] Privacy policies typically represent a broader, more generalized treatment, as opposed to data use statements, which tend to be more detailed and specific.”

A Privacy Policy Template

Yeah, I’m joking, I’ll be giving you some help with this. But, you should have this on your website before you EVER go live. (You can see ours here.)

The different laws about what you must disclose in your privacy policy or any of the other legal pages are subject to change on a regular basis. Please remember to have your pages looked over by a lawyer on a regular basis to keep yourself safe.

WordPress themselves have worked on a nice template that you can access from your WordPress Dashboard by going to (replace yourbrandedname with your name in the URL BELOW.)

https://yourbrandedname.com/wp-admin/tools.php?wp-privacy-policy-guide

Inside this page, you will find a very detailed Privacy Policy Template that can help you. When you first land on the page you will see the introduction (Copied from my current dashboard )

Hello,

This text template will help you to create your web site’s privacy policy.

We have suggested the sections you will need. Under each section heading, you will find a short summary of what information you should provide, which will help you to get started. Some sections include suggested policy content, others will have to be completed with information from your theme and plugins.

Please edit your privacy policy content, making sure to delete the summaries, and adding any information from your theme and plugins. Once you publish your policy page, remember to add it to your navigation menu.

It is your responsibility to write a comprehensive privacy policy, to make sure it reflects all national and international legal requirements on privacy, and to keep your policy current and accurate.
